Evolution of a Motion Graphic

I did some more animation work in the last year, so I decided to update my animation demo reel. I came up with the idea to create a motion graphic for the logo using Adobe After Effects. With this post, I wanted to show my progress from sketch to final animation. I'm still editing the demo reel itself but the reel should be done sometime this week.

Tree Wedding Invitation Postcard

This is another version of the wedding invite postcard that I designed last spring. My client wanted the same kind of postcard but still have the invitation represent their special day. They asked to have a tree instead of a bench. I changed the layout and some of the typography on the postcard as well. Printed on 100% recycled brown kraft paper. I'm very happy how the photos turned out. I invested in a better light which really helped in creating betters photos.

In other news, Rocket Monkeys the show that I worked on won a Pixie Award which honors outstanding creativity in motion graphics, effects and animation. It was really cool to hear that Rocket Monkeys won for animation. Furthermore, Rocket Monkeys aired on Nickelodeon this week. Now my american family and friends can watch it.

In other news, in April, I will be in an art show. So I have been getting  ready for that. I"m really excited because I will be sending one of my pieces to a letterpress studio located in Vancouver. I'll update you on all that soon. Finally, for my birthday my awesome husband got me a 1930 typewriter. He got it from this couple who restores typewriters called The Workhorse. I absolutely love it and I have some interesting ideas for it :)

Handwritten App

Happy Valentine's Day! I was asked by Amit Pitaru who is an interaction designer from Brooklyn, New York, to design two special edition Valentine's Day postcards for an iPad app called Handwritten. By using this app you can create a handwritten postcard and easily email it to a friend. The Valentine's Day edition postcards will be available free on February 14th.

Rocket Monkeys Release

Here are some clips of the show "Rocket Monkeys" provided by Teletoon. None of the clips are mine but at least I can show what I've been working on for the past year.  It was a fun show to work on. It was also an honor to work with the voice of Mark McKinney who is from one of my favorite shows "Kids in the Hall". The show premiers January 10th at 6:30pm on Teletoon. I recommend checking it out!!!

At the moment, I have been just relaxing, baking, organizing my studio and doing some personal projects. I am also excited that I now own a Wacom Cintiq 12WX and it works like a dream.

Illustrated Heart Greeting Card

Well the last couple of months, life has been really busy with work on the new show Rocket Monkeys which will be airing in January. The show has already been getting good reviews around the world. The show is wrapping up in one month and I am looking forward to some time off. If you haven't noticed I also updated my blog to look more like my website.  Two months ago I designed a greeting card. This card is inspired by animals and nature. I wanted to create a heart image with simple shapes of animals.
