Minimal Posters Article

While I was on vacation for a couple of weeks, I wrote an article on Minimal Posters for the website Printaholic. They finally posted it last Friday. I really enjoyed writing it and I hope to do more for them. Please give it a read and enjoy some inspiring posters.

Print Accepted to 918 Letterpress Ephemera

What an exciting week! First of all, I started work on a new show called Dr. Dimensionpants. Secondly, my "Heart" letterpress print was accepted into the 918 Letterpress Ephemera Show in Birmingham, Alabama. It will also become part of the permanent collection at Samford University and it will be used to inspire art and design students for years to come. I would also like to thank Porchlight Press for printing this beautiful print.

You can check out the show website

Beard

My new work is inspired by my husband and his massive beard. He is always fun to draw. I was also influenced by paper cut-out art.

Work featured on Printaholic

Happy Summer!! I can't believe its almost September. I have to admit I have been enjoying the sun way to much this year. It's the first summer in a long time that I've taken time to do things besides work. Unfortunately a lot of projects have been on hold.  As I was saying in my last post, I've been looking to buy a condo. Well I finally found a great place in my neighborhood. I'm officially a home owner. My husband and I are hoping to move in sometime in October.

In other news, my postcard invite was featured in an article on Printaholic. You can check out the article below. It has been getting a lot of great feedback. I can't believe the postcard invite is so popular. I get requests all the time for that design.

Finally, starting in the fall I want to be more active with my blog. I want to post things other than my own work and what is happening in my life. I want to start writing about processes, inspiration and things that are going on in the design and illustration world. I see other artists who I admire do this with their blog as well.

I hope everyone else is enjoying the summer!

"Thanks for Being Awesome" Card design

Happy Summer!  All I can say is that my life has been so busy the last two months. If I can describe my life in one word it would be the word "change." I've started a new job at DHX Media. I've been learning more about letterpress in the last month. As well as, I have been looking to buy my first home. I feel like an adult now.

Enough about my personal life. I designed a new greeting card for the stationary store that I am working on with a good friend. I Wanted to play with a mixture of 3d and 2d type and lines. The brown colors compliment the vintage lettering look, along with the swirly motifs surrounding the type.
