"Thanks for Being Awesome" Card design

Happy Summer!  All I can say is that my life has been so busy the last two months. If I can describe my life in one word it would be the word "change." I've started a new job at DHX Media. I've been learning more about letterpress in the last month. As well as, I have been looking to buy my first home. I feel like an adult now. 

Enough about my personal life. I designed a new greeting card for the stationary store that I am working on with a good friend. I Wanted to play with a mixture of 3d and 2d type and lines. The brown colors compliment the vintage lettering look, along with the swirly motifs surrounding the type.

Limited Edition T-Shirt

   
I was contacted by Mister Dress-Up, a month ago to have one of my illustrations on a limited edition t-shirt. They are an online t-shirt store based in Montreal where they showcase new artists every week. The T-shirt is only available for one week. We decided to use my "Animal Heart" illustration for the t-shirt. Monday, April 29th is the last day to purchase this t-shirt.

Lab Art Show 2

This week two of my illustrations will be in the lab Art Show that takes place over two days, April 11-12, at the Heritage Hall at 6102 Main. Tickets are $10/$15. The show will be hosting 70 local artists, the second incarnation of the Lab Art Show will showcase a variety of original artwork from film to paintings. I'm really excited to be part of something so cool.

Evolution of a Motion Graphic

I did some more animation work in the last year, so I decided to update my animation demo reel. I came up with the idea to create a motion graphic for the logo using Adobe After Effects. With this post, I wanted to show my progress from sketch to final animation. I'm still editing the demo reel itself but the reel should be done sometime this week.

Tree Wedding Invitation Postcard

This is another version of the wedding invite postcard that I designed last spring. My client wanted the same kind of postcard but still have the invitation represent their special day. They asked to have a tree instead of a bench. I changed the layout and some of the typography on the postcard as well. Printed on 100% recycled brown kraft paper. I'm very happy how the photos turned out. I invested in a better light which really helped in creating betters photos.

In other news, Rocket Monkeys the show that I worked on won a Pixie Award which honors outstanding creativity in motion graphics, effects and animation. It was really cool to hear that Rocket Monkeys won for animation. Furthermore, Rocket Monkeys aired on Nickelodeon this week. Now my american family and friends can watch it.

In other news, in April, I will be in an art show. So I have been getting  ready for that. I"m really excited because I will be sending one of my pieces to a letterpress studio located in Vancouver. I'll update you on all that soon. Finally, for my birthday my awesome husband got me a 1930 typewriter. He got it from this couple who restores typewriters called The Workhorse. I absolutely love it and I have some interesting ideas for it :)
